Skateboarding for Jesus

One of my local independent rags had a cover story (a couple of weeks ago) about a church that uses skateboarding to promote Jesus. This is a clear example of Christ Above Culture.
The program was started by a 17 year-old member of the church who says,
I really grew up around a Christian culture and accepted Christ at an early age…. I wanted to use skateboarding for God in any way possible so I started this ministry.
Using an aspect of culture to promote Christ is an example of Christ Above Culture.
Another characteristic of this perspective is the higher view of redemption. Skateboarding which leads to someone’s salvation is clearly the goal of this program:
The time Wes Luke spoke to the ministry he showed a diagram of a half-pipe with a cross in the middle, which he said shows “a separation from sin.”
Whatever you think of the idea, you have to admit that it’s great to see a 17 year-old applying his faith in Christ to his culture.
