Apprentice Justification

Last night I watched the season premere of the NBC show, The Apprentice. This show is an excellent case study of justification. In the show people are competing with other contestants to see which of them gets a job with Donald Trump. Each week the contestants, divided into two teams, attempt to successfully complete a specific task. The winning team survives another week. From the losing team, “Somebody will be fired.”

Needless to say, once the losing team is announced, the justification starts to fly: “I might have done this, but you did that”; “She didn’t work as hard as I did”; “He isn’t creative”; or whatever justification they might give to stay in the game and potentially become Trump’s employee.
