Automobile Justification

I laugh every time I see the Passat commercial about “low ego emissions.” I also think it is a good example of justification by something besides Christ.

The first guy has a fancy car because his daddy didn’t hug him. He thinks he will finally be lovable even though his dad didn’t find him so. The attractive woman says she loves herself the more men notice her. The third guy is trying to find righteousness in his masculinity- may be then he will be able to live with himself.

It’s funny because it’s true.

It’s sad because it’s true. We are so quick to latch onto anything that might make us lovable or finally justify us so that people have to love us- even if that’s by buying a vehicle that’s less pretentious than someone else’s car.
