How would Jesus rassle?

From the “News of the Weird” to the mainstream newspaper comes the Christian Wrestling Association. I had originally commented on this earlier, but this article from The State Newspaper is a little more comprehensive than the cynical clip I originally read.

Although this article is more in depth, it is less clear what gives the C in the CWA. Sure they pray before matches but this is the only element that is in the least bit spiritual. Perhaps the most important part of the CWA is the morality. They try to “keep it clean” by not “throw curse bombs out there and do the crotch-grabbing…” One of the characters, Sexy Lexy, even tries to watch her hemline. This is all an attempt to create a “family-friendly atmosphere.”

With the unspecific references to God and the focus on morality, the CWA could best be characterized as Christ of Culture.
